Has anyone tried this ETM repair kit for the ETM? Is my ETM failing
I replaced the ABS module 3 years ago and the ignition switch yesterday. I took the car out for a ride and the car ran like crap, the ABS,TRACTION,BRAKE, up shift lamps, all lit up. The speedo+ tach not working and the instrument panel all - - - -.....The ABS was replaced with a midwest abs unit, same problem. Is my ETM finally failing?
When I came to a stop exiting the free way I put it in neutral and pressed the accelerator to the floor and it did nothing ???

Have you seen that Xemodex now lists a DIY ETM repair kit? It's the same price as the one you listed above, but from a very reputable vendor and manufacturer. http://xemodex.com/technologyimproved/c ... 823-10-diy
They also have a much better description and explanation of their product than the one in the link you provided.
As for the symptoms you listed, that does not sound like a faulty ETM as I've been aware of. I'm not aware of anyone having those lights coming on as a result of the ETM. But by all means, I'm no professional. Hope someone gets you help quick, keep us updated on your progress.

ARD is also extremely reputable and based in the US. FYI.... They both sell the exact same part from the exact same manufacturer.

This part is going to fail....I think I have stretched the line on this one and would rather have the piece of mind. I did know of the company, but I did not know they sold the faulty part . I thought you could only replace the unit. ...
Either way...thx...but the part is in the shipping process.

Sacer in China is the manufacturer. I have purchased over 50 units from them without a failure in the actual sensor. ETMs have failures for other reasons other than sensors. In each instance where the sensor didn't repair the ETM it was reused in another ETM with success.
ETM circuit boards produce odd reference voltages, go out of tolerance in the power output stage or the logic in the board fails to process input correctly.
Also magnets corrode and expand and will touch the armature sides causing shorting and excessive current draw.
You can get the Sacer sensor with Volvo's logo, Sacer's logo or XeModex's logo. You could probably ask Sacer to put Yogi Bear's face on the sensor
After fittting so many of them I would have expected at least one faulty sensor by now however no such luck.

Thx Mike.....I dont think this is the problem as well, but just a ticking time bomb. I am having a hell of a time tracking down what the problem is. I have another forum on this website ( 1998 s70 headlights, turn sigs, shift RESOLVED relay 106 ) in which I have checked the voltage output at a sitting position, started/running check and a running with all of the accessories turned on and it seems to be fine....
I repalced the ETM with an OEM volvo unit. I had a shop do this and confirmed thatthe new unit has all of the issues with the earlier ones ironed out. I got the car out of the shop and it is doing the same thing. It took about 45minutes of driving, then I lost the speedometer, tachmometer and the ABS/brake lamps lit up....put me in limp mode and I putted all the way home.....I had MATTY MOO check my abs prior to the ETM fix. I ordered one from him ..installed it...and had the same problems....so I sent it back and installed my original ( victor rocha repaired unit). Matty was not able to pull codes from the returned unit.....SO now....I am scratching my head. The shop pulled codes for the ETM, thats why we decided to replace it. No there are ABS commcodes....here is the before etm replacement code sheet......Anyone have an IDEA!!

If they fitted a 35050563 they arrive pre-programmed however for the B5234T engine they may not work properly unless programmed at the dealer.
If the garage doesn't have access to factory programming there is your red herring.
Part number 36001821 comes un-programmed.

The ETM, yes, had to pay for the dealer download......
This is a lil nightmare....why would my speedo, tachometer, instrument display all - - - - and the ABS + Brake lamps lit......and the limp mode???
Those were the codes prior to the ETM install, they test drove it and it worked good......it did not act display the lamps and limp home mode until about 45 minutes of driving.
