2007 XC90 3.2 BlueTooth issues

This model has the Volvo blue tooth hands free control pad option attached as a "factory after thought" on the dash. Some days it works fine and others not. Mostly the issue is it wont recognize your voice. Its asks you a question, "please say a command" for ex but wont recognize or hear my response. Or, I'll answer an incoming call and the person at the other end cant hear me talking. The problems are intermittent. Some days, it all works fines, others not. Any ideas on what I might be able to do (maybe a reset?)or is it basically a faulty unit at this point? Thanks!!
