99 V70 5 Speed Standard One Owner 100K

Post by osman »

Im psyched, I just picked up a 99 V70 Manual Wagon at a charity auction. Its been a while since I have had a standard volvo. I couldnt believe it was a donation, its one owner just turned 100K, black with a very clean tan interior. I will replace the hood and bumper with parts from a black 98xc70 that I have been slowly picking apart at my local junkyard. I might even get the roof rails and third row seat/cargo net from that donor and install in mine. What a score. I will put up pics after I change the hood and bumper tomorrow, this is what it looked like when I bought it.Image.

Quit holding out and tell us how much you scored it for. I bet that will look swell after you swap parts and polish it out.

I am almost ashamed to say my winning bid was $400 and it would have been $300 but a friend of mine accidentally bid against me. After paying sales tax, buyers fees, title, registration, etc. it was $700. Granted it had lawnmower syndrome and no one could get it started so it caused people to be skeptical at auction, but I buy cars at auction that dont start all the time. Its usually a fuel pump relay or something simple. I put in a $40 refurbished battery and drove home, no CEL's or any drivability issues.

The buffoons up here would have bid it up to $1800. Fees aren't fun but at that price that's a good score. I personally like my manual NA, they're kinda fun to drive.

Awesome score! That price is amazing. I'm on the lookout for another myself. I've four kids 18-4 so I'd rather them be in a Volvo. I paid a bit more for mine but well worth it.

that is exactly what i was looking for when i was buying. i saw an '00 5spd V70 with ~160k go for about three large on ebay while i was on the hunt, and i considered bidding sight unseen.

sure, yours isn't perfect, but for four hundo who cares? that's a good deal for a 5spd wagon with twenty bent valves, let alone one that works. refresh everything and you have a stage-zero wagon on the cheap.

While I will no doubt enjoy driving it for a month while I await the titlework, I would still be willing to sell it to a forum member at low kelley blue book price because I know how "rare" a car like this is. It is in immaculate shape top to bottom other than the cosmetics which I will be fixing. 3 wagons is just too much for my driveway. Someone else would appreciate this car more than me, because it is just one of 8 nice cars I own, and like children I cant play favorites. I would love to see this go to a conscientious owner who will keep it in said family. I want to see her get a good home, essentially. Maybe even get updates every once in a while.

Here is my smart looking new hood I just put on today, doing the bumper tomorrow.
my friend is holding the old hood I removed and

the new one is on the car.

I really love these cars. The only flaw this car has is the drivers seat has a couple cracks, Im probably going to replace the bottom skin too. Driving this car is so fun. I went on the toll road today, I only went 85 but hey, I'm not a teenager anymore. I just like to see how my cars handle under "Autobahn" conditions sometimes.
