Under hood illumination

Post by Ghassan »

hi,

Do our cars come with lighting that illuminates the under the hood area when you open it? My old 91 Taurus and my father's 1982 Buick Lesabre came with this feature.

My car is a 1998 S70 T5.

Thanks.
Ghassan.

I was thinking the same thing as my beater 1986 740 has an under hood light whereas 2002 V70 does not. Given the technological (and price) advances over this period of time i would have thought a light under the hood would be automatic.

You know, this wouldn't be a bad project...to wire one up so when you open the hood it will come on...could be wired to the battery even with a switch that is released as you raise the hood. If someone does this, let everyone know. I sure would like to have it on mine.

Should be able to get one off an old 740 etc. complete with switch, wiring etc. and install?? I never have looked that close at mine to see how the switch is acitvated. I know there is a switch on the side that selects OFF all of the time, and On when opened past a certain point.

A good use for the outlawed mercury switches. Don't let the EPA know you have one
