Help - My daughters ETM light came on after I detailed the engine. I found one with a Yellow label on eBay said it was replaced under warranty for the recall and the car was then rear ended. But its off an s60 non-turbo.
I hear non-turbo to non-turbo I won't need to program anything. Is this correct?
Will I have issue with it being an S60? I'm thinking its the same motor as ours so i should not have any issues.

The S60 non turbo has a 8644345 number fitted and your '99 V70 has a 9186793 or 8644347 fitted. There are more than likely differences in programming unless you can read the Network setting of both with Vida/Dice.
The engine in a S60 non turbo is a B5244S and has VVT fitted. Your car has a B5254S with no VVT.
You are better off finding an ETM from the same series (P80) while still non turbo. There are no guarantees that it will work as it depends on the software level that was fitted.

There are 2 sensors fitted to the ETM if you use the standard contacting sensors. You would need to replace BOTH sensors to ensure a relaible ETM and for the average person this would be a 4 hour job.
After all this work you would need to be VERY certain that the donor sensors are perfect.
Have you considered having the car scanned in case its something totally unrelated to the ETM? For example a faulty brake pedal position sensor or a faulty accelerator sensor can light up the ETS light.
Is the engine running normally?

Engine runs fine but stalls sometimes and has to be restarted. It shuts down more frequently with the AC on. It shows as a manufacture code P1028. It happened after I cleaned and detailed the engine. I cleaned the connectors and cleared the code.
So the answer is NO it can't be used on this car.
I fixed the ABS modules on two of my previous volvos. I have access to electrical engineers and any type of support a repair of this type would need. I see sensor rebuild kits too.
Thanks again for your reply.
