1998 V70 SMI rack or TRW?

Post by 5rivers »

I am trying to figure out what type of steering rack I have on my car (am replacing driver's side outer and inner tie rods). The rack was replaced a few years back and the boot that I took off was labelled SMI (possible part number of boot: 6 000 025 807 B). The service plate number is 5. Do both of these suggest that my car has an SMI rack? And would this mean outer/inner tie rods with 14 mm threads or 16 mm threads? Appreciate your replies!

Pretty good explanation on IPD site. http://www.ipdusa.com/products/5801/113 ... 413,T10029

Having the "5" in the position you mentioned pretty much guarantees that it was an SMI.
