2000 V70 AWD oil dripped out of intercooler pipe

Post by kahl »

Hi Guys,

I am now working on my nephews 2000 V70 PCV system. I removed the turbo hose at the bottom of the intercooler and oil dripped out. I am guessing it was about an 1/8 of a cup. This car did a wonderful job of inflating a glove so I know the PCV system needs service.

In addition the TBA and water pump is being replaced along with all the coolant hoses. I will replace cam seals if needed.

I need advice on what to do about oil in the turbo lines. How can I fix this problem? Does a clogged PCV system have any impact on the turbocharger.

The more you learn about these cars the more you realize how much you don't know.

WHat you found is not unusual on a car with no issues and less than 100K miles. The crankcase vent system vents into turbo inlet and the cooling and pressure drop in intercooler is a ripe environ for the oil vapor to condense. The nephew may not be too aggressive and blow it out. Even driven aggressively oil will still be there.
