1998 V70XC Turbo Water Inlet Hose

Post by Carboncopy »

Hi all,

Would it be possible to get away with using generic heater hose to replace this line? If anyone has one lying around what are the diameters of both ends? Any help is appreciated.

Not sure which line you re referring to. Got a picture?
Is it expensive or something you can't get in your area?

Its not expensive, I am just unable to find it locally and I desperately need to replace it.

Spend the $7, it is well worth it. It is pre-bent and resistant to oil/heat. It is not a fun place to work with a non stock hose. Both inlet and outlet should be OEM.

The hose has two different diameters at each end so it pretty much has to purpose made. On an XC, as horrible as a PITA as it is to get to it, I wouldn't use anything but OEM to replace it. CarQuest has that hose if you have one of their stores locally but it is a URO brand hose. URO hoses don't get along particularly well with hot liquids like coolant and oil.

Thanks Ozark, good news is a friend is up visiting me next week and they live right by a volvo dealer, so gonna call and see if I can't get the inlet hose from that dealer and have my friend bring it up.

The Part number fpr this piece is 6842190 and is available at FCP or IPD for 13 bucks or less. It is OEM volvo made in spain or hungary. I am in the middle of replacing it and as expected, struggling to find enough room to get my apparently fat hand and fingers in a tight spot.

Yeah, it's a tough one. OP was in Canada at thread birth, s/he probably had to pay double that price with import and handling fees.

I did this before I found this site. Now I know it's not ideal but I was I a pinch as it was Sunday and no one had it and had to get the car home. It's two different sizes at each end but I'm having a brain fart at the moment on what exactly they were at the time but I got a brass NPT elbow used barb fittings that screwed into elbow with a couple short lengths of hose to connect it. I did most of it front the underside with the car on ramps. It was a PITA on my 98XC, but have to say it's been holding up great with no issues thus far. I did it about 4 months ago now. I'll see if a can get pics of its later on.

No one needs the sizes now, just pulled up an old thread. I usually do it from up top. I simply pull the coolant line off of the back of the turbo and the other end with the intake tube off. Takes about an hour.
