10/07 S40 2.4i Air is cold when idling but warm when driving

Post by youngatheart80 »

Does anyone know what the problem could be when, on the Volvo S40 2.4i, the air runs comfortably cold when the car is idling or sitting, but changes to warm air when the car is about 4 minutes into driving? I need help in identifying the problem and some suggestion on how to fix it. Thanks!

Your heater core heats the air moving through it (from the blower) using hot coolant from the engine block. its only after a few minutes of running that the block heats up enough to heat up the coolant and thereby the heater core. this is perfectly normal :)
