1998 V70r Passenger seat control - no movement

Post by chexny »

I had no movement on the passenger seat now for some time. Decided to but a new seat control unit from eBay. I bought a used one. I switched the seat control out but still no movement. The seat control unit itself clicks b but the motor has no noise no clicking etc.

Can it be a fuse issue? The owners manual says the fuse generally do not need service. Anything else? Odds that I am two for two on defective controls?

Scour the inter webs for a wiring diagram and start at finding the 12 VDC feed to the seat. Wires fuses and connectors are usually what goes if you have no function at all on seats, as opposed to one or two things INOP.

Swapped the fuses just to check and not the fuse.

Thanks but considering I can't really read a writing diagram and it has been stuck at least 2 and maybe 3y I'm fine to leave it alone. It is the passengers problem anyway right?

Thanks. As I will look. I put inn a power seat in my 99 in place of a manual one and it does not work. Anyone know the fuse numbers for the pass side?
Hope you get your problem solved, and you have helped me with trying to solve mine.

Can you hear the motor? After time the wire on the inside of the cable that goes from the motor to the seats, gets frayed and the motor spins but does not engage the seat control. I use heat to shorten the outer sheath which has the same effect of shortening the interior cable and voila. The volvo window and seat motors are nearly indestructible in these cars. They almost never fail. I have seen quite a few control panels for the seats fail.
