I am performing cylinder head replacement on my 850 due to burnt valves. I got rebuilt head from Clearwater. I am following Tracey's tutorial on the replacement and have the following questions.
What is suggested oil / oil additives to use for initial start?
When should I do first oil change?
Are there specific procedure for break in?
Thanks for all the great posts on cylinder head replacement,
Lou

For initial start:
- lube the cams during assembly
- before you even allow the fuel pump to prime, keep the fuel pump fuse out of the car and with the coil also disconnected, crank it over several times. This will get oil pumping about the engine.
- just use cheap dino oil, I would suggest 10w-30, the cheapest you can find, e.g. SuperTech from Walmart.
- let it idle 10 minutes then take it for a drive around the block. If all is well start using it.
First oil change at about 500 miles. Then refill with your favorite oil, that topic is a whole can of worms but I currently use Rotella T6 5w-40 in almost all of my cars.
No break-in for a cylinder head swap really, just pay close attention for 500 miles, for issues related to the disassembly/assembly. Watch for fluid or oil leaks, make sure the lifters have quieted down.
