In the online 740 owners Manual, it only says to inspect the rear axle oil without ever "replacing it" But over time this lubricating oil will become thick as molasses and your car will feel like it's dragging, and you need to change the fluid when, especially you feel that the rear axle is vibrating when you give it torque.
