Please see picture attached. This is rattling around as the mounts are broken. Not sure what this part is.
Please advise so I can get a replacement. It is located below and near the battery box and radiator on the front drivers side. Thanks

Looks like SAS pump. It can be done away with. There is information on here. Is CEL on?
1998 V70 T5 331,000 :( Her last day was on 3 cylinders.
New to me 1999 V70 NA 163,000 Now at 217,000
2006 V70 2.5T in driveway (WIFE'S)

Yep...Air pump for SAS system.
'97 850 2.5 20v / fully equipped / Motronic 4.4 from the factory / upgraded with S,V,C,XC70 instrument cluster / polar white wagon

There are little rubber bobbins that suspend the SAS pump and like anything rubber they fail over time and you get where your car is now.

There are 3 of them, part # 1275537, there are also 3 nuts part # 985919 (M6 x 6 thread) that hold it to the mounting plate, and the other end of the threaded part of the bobbin screws into the SAS pump body.

I probably have some fairly new ones laying around. Mine was replaced a few years back, then when it went bad I just did the delete and removed it. I don't know how expensive from the dealer would be.

Oops! A touch of finger trouble on my part! Bobbin part no is : 1275534 (not 1275537 as I said). According to Tasca website, MSRP is $7.31 US and they sell for $5.42 ea. Not worth paying postage on!
Nut price MSRP is $2.32, Tasca price is $1.52.

I don't work for Tasca, I just buy a lot from them and find they usually have the best prices overall, AND ship to Canada.

Most of us here do the "90-cent diode" mod and forget about this Air Pump thingy.

Two per pack from Radio Shack and just saw the second one the other day in the solder kit I keep stuff in.
Those were the good 'ole days. :D
Bad thing was, the engine light always found a reason to come on. Not from the SAS, it just liked to come on and give me something to do.

If you are going to keep the SAS pump, check the check valve, or probably replace it, as it is what helps the SAS go bad, by letting water down into the pump. Some drill little holes in the bottom of the pump and that also helps prolong the life of it.
