ATP-205 seal reconditioner

Post by FLXC90 »

WARNING: Just found THIS on the web..."Yes, I FINALLY got a hold of their tech dept. and they told me it is a 'plasticizer' agent which only works on rubber/EPDM type seals, and actually EATS plastic/teflon/delrin?? type seals.*" from an oil forum user spoke with techs at mfg of ATP-205

I have had success with this product and have claimed so...now I am pushed to further research.

How does it affect our vehicles..dunno which components have affected seals, don't know time line for problems. I would suspect this to be more a problem with power steering systems, but I'm checking and will post what I find out.

Hmm....Just today I added one oz. to power steering and 7 oz. to crankcase.

From the box:
Fully compatible with:
Conventional and synthetic motor oils for gasoline and diesel engines
ATF and gear oil used in automatic transmissions, manual transmissions, and differentials
Power steering fluid in rack and pinion & steering box applications
Hydraulic oil used with plows, lifts, jacks, industrial equipment

Do not use in brake system

The wagon will be on the road a lot in the next two weeks so I'll keep an eye out for anything that manifests. It would seem that ATF (power steering) would be similar to motor oil and the seal material would have similar properties but of a more high pressure construction.

Yes, but how many folks would know what kind of material their seals are made of?

A lot of you probably know this already because you have posted about this product before but: JDS60R has been using this product for a very long time at his shop. He likes it, no bad experiences, that tells us way more about compatibility with P80 cars than we will ever gather from an informal forum survey.
