1995 850 GLT Transmission Fluid Additive: Good or Bad?

Post by kw1999 »

Hello All,

My 300,000 mile 850's transmission shifts are starting to get a little rough. From dead stops, the transmission shifts like it's got a sledgehammer working in there, and kicking down is getting equally as rough. I was watching Scotty Kilmer's YouTube channel tonight, and in one video while doing an automatic transmission fluid drain, he recommends a product called Lucas Transmission Fix (here's a link to the video for reference:

Can anyone attest to this product? Is it safe to put into my 850's transmission? Just 2,000 miles ago I did drained and refilled the fluid three times, as per recommendation from this forum. I firmly believe that was very helpful. Is Lucas Transmission Fix good preventative maintenance? Any clarification would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

If that's not a good solution, I also read that using about 1 ounce of DOT-3 brake fluid can help to alleviate these symptoms; the mechanic's rational being that "the brake fluid cleans out the valves in the control valve assembly, which tend to get stuck." Any opinions on this?

It seems to get mostly positive accolades from a variety of sources: http://www.homesteadingtoday.com/countr ... eview.html

Thanks in advance for any advice!
