2005 V50 Immobilizer, ABS messages

My car was running but after a 4 hour drive the ABS light went on, and when I stopped the car the key wouldn't release and the IMMOBILIZER and ABS messages appeared. Now it won't start.

Have been told an ABS module needs replacing to the tune of $1900, and maybe that will resolve it.

Does this make sense? Is it standard? Are there other options or other things to look out for beforehand?
