ongoing oil leak

Post by nthnnxn »

Hello again,
2000 S70 Base model is continuing to gather oil on top of the head. I have replaced the oil fill cap and cvvt solenoid gasket. I even put a hose clamp on the PTC hose... STILL POOLING UP
Where is this oil coming from??

Ok...So turns out at least 4 bolts are loose...but for some reason they will not torque down. Threads look good and NOT crossed...do I get new bolts, or R/R all bolts I have now? Dealer wants $13 per bolt and reccomends all 12 bolts be new.

Leave it unless it's leaking more than 1 quart per 1000 miles.

If the bolts look good then the threads inside the head are likely stripped. Unfortunately, stripping of the soft, aluminum head is more likely than of the steel threads on the bolts. Test this by pulling a good bolt, one that threads in properly, from another hole using a socket, and testing it in a hole where the bolt is spinning. If that good bolt also spins then the problem is the threads, not the bolt. Check each one of the four holes.
