850 dying "solved" Topic is solved

I need your help.

My 850 GLT 1992 dies on me.

I drive around 1 km and take the foot of pedal and the engine goes out.
Can start it again with no problem, but after around 1 km it does it again.
Have changed the airflow meter and it didn`t help.
Could it have something to do that injectors is leeking ? I had then out this weekend and after that it came. Can not see any fuel.

Have read them out twice and no fails.
When I changed the airflow meter 1-2-1 came and I eraised it.

What brand is the new air flow meter (the MAF)? The MAF really must be Bosch, aftermarket ones for the most part will not work, or nor very long if they do.

Since you were just working on it, I would look carefully for any vacuum leaks.

It`s a used Volvo part from a scrapyard. Thought the old one was the problem, but not.
Just went for a longer trip.
The engine didn`t go out, but when stopped for red light the rpm went up and Down. Nearly died.

What does your engine sound like as your driving? Does it sound normal?

Engine sounds fine and in idle no problem.
Just went for a little drive and once rpm dipped a little, but didn`t die.
Could it just that it need a good long drive after I had the injectors out ?
Checked all connections and all seems ok

How long did you have the injectors out? Were they dirty? Did you replace them?
Are your spark plugs and wires OK?
If you have RPMs dipping ever so slightly, could be a vacuum leak somewhere.
If it's getting better. Maybe the car has healed itself!

Changed to bigger injectors saturday and then the problem came.
Thought there was a problem with bigger injectors and changed back to the old ones. Didn`t help.
Changed sparkplugs and from KN filter to original Volvo filter. Wires changed last year together with cap/rotor.
Have checked all hoses and can`t see any leeks.

Could it be the temp.sensor ? It comes after a certain distance after the engine gets a little hot.
Know we have changed a lot on these cars.
