2000 V70R - AWD wheel size question?

I'm currently running 17" x 7.5J Volvo alloys with a 225/45/17" tire. The wheels have a 49mm offset and surprisingly so far have had no rubbing issues.

I have been keeping an eye out for a set of 'R' wheels and a set of 17" Pegasus have come up for sale at a (possibly) reasonable price.

Still waiting for a reply from the seller as to the actual wheel dimensions, all I know so far are the are 17" with a 46mm offset. They are fitted with 235/45/17 tires which I don't think will work without rubbing (won't know until I try), but if they are 8" wide rims as fitted to the 04-07 'R' models, has anyone tried these?

Looking under the car, there looks like there should be clearance at the front (unless the rub on the inner plastic fenders on full lock), at the rear on the AWD the main area of concern may be the rear stay that runs from the jacking point to the rear hub. As the wheel has a 3mm 'less' offset (about 1/8") theoretically that should mean only 1/8" more inset on the wheel which I think may work for the rims.

As the tires are fairly new, I can always remove them and sell them on.

Any thoughts?
