Blows intermittently. Sometimes weeks, days, daily. Last night 3 times within miles.
Chime sounds continuously when blown.
Trunk open light HAD been lighting when occurs but last night no trunk light. Comes on when trunk open.
Most lights out when occurs.
How do I troubleshoot this mess?

A common wire fail point is in the left rear hatch strut. The wires break, short out, and cause all kinds of havoc

+1 with abscate on this. It would be the first place to check.

Missed that this was a Sedan, not a wagon. Does the sedan have the same strut fail point?

In my 1996 854 turbo, fuse 15 is tied into interior lights, door locks, remote keyless entry (which turned out to be my problem), gas tank door lock, and truck lights. I would look try gas tank lock. It is relatively easy to get to and there are a few threads that are written up on this site and on youtube as to the how to of it. Good luck shorts are a bear.., but you can do it.

+1 for checking any moving harness.
If it gets cold, it'll probably break,
and I see that you're in a winter state.
Trunk lid wiring is a likely suspect!

Thanks for the input. The problem changed symptoms on me and I made a couple of discoveries. When I turned the cabin light switch to the OFF (center) position the cabin alarm is silenced.
Then I made another discovery: While turning right (the most common situation for initiating the failure) I moved my VISOR to the door position. It immediately blew the fuse and the chime started!!!! As soon as I moved it back to the windshield position the chime stopped.
Today I got a chance to pull the car into our repair bay and dropped the visor. I did not see any damage and so I pulled the wires back OUT of the visor a bit. Still did not see anything. TRIED to put a fuse in and it blew before I could get it in. BINGO! A hard failure after manipulating the wires. I pulled a bit harder and found the bare wires deep in the metal bracket. SNIP SNIP and a bit of tape and I think this one is history.
