the car has been starting and running fine. tonight i went to the store, came back out and it started for a couple of seconds then died and would not restart. ( crank over but not run ) i sat in the car for a couple of minutes and then it started. drove it home, shut it off, same prob. crank it and it would kinda hit and miss, let it sit, then it would start.
the previous owner said he has replaced the fuel pump but i dont know how long ago ...
what do u guys think ???
please move to 850 forum... sorry

The electrical part of the ignition switch is known to go bad.
Could also be fuel pump relay.
Check for fuel check for spark, go from there.

could be a bad sensor inside the distrbutor. check for spark and fuel. if you aren't getting either then check the sensor first. the ignition computer has to relay back and forth with it in order to get spark. if its failing then you will get an intermittent start and eventually it will die on you while driving it, causing a major mess up.
to check the relay just put your hand on it while trying to crank the car. if its clicking then most likely your problem lies elsewhere.
just because it cranks doesnt mean it will start.
let me know if you need more help.
