I'm about to install white injectors on the 850 to go along with a my 16t and accompanying tune.

My question is about the upper fuel injector spacers. These are the tiny dark colored bits that go in between the injector and the rail. Should I use these with the whites? The donor car for the white injectors did not have them on the fuel rail but the stock fuel rail with the orange injectors does.

Not sure what you mean by 'white' injectors, other than they are possibly white in color. Are they the same body style as the old injectors? If so, measure them for overall length and if they are the same then use the spacers. The 'O' rings may seal the injectors by themselves well enough, but the injector rail holds it all in place with the upper and lower spacers and takes the load off the injector seals.

They are indeed white in color. The bosch injectors are color coded by flow rate. The whites came as standard along with the 16t on the later 70 series turbo models. They do have a different body style than the orange. I'll measure the length when in do the install and see if there's a difference.

I know people will often put in the uprated injectors to couple with a larger turbo (such as green injectors with the 19t) and I thought they were all essentially plug and play.

I think you're right that the o rings should seal everything fine. Honestly can't see what the function of these little spacer rings are but I suppose they're there a reason and I was just curious what others have done with these when changing between injector models on these cars.

I used the fuel rail that came with my white/blue injectors. There should be a thin sheet metal bolted onto the fuel rail to prevent the blue/white injectors coming out. Orange injectors cars don't have that, they have the big blue rubber seal on the body of the injectors to prevent them from coming out. I don't feel it secure on the blue/white injectors.

Yeah I did notice the fuel rails are slightly different. What deterred me initially from using the white injector fuel rail was that it changes the position of the fuel pressure regulator and I wanted as simple a swap as possible. I do know that thin metal retainer you're referring to though.

I don't see what the blue rubber seals have to do with anything though. Are you talking about the blue rings that seat the injectors in the intake manifold?

My 98 already had the rail with the retaining sheet. I have whites for my 95 but have not yet swapped them in, but I intend to swap in the whole fuel rail. However you can keep the old one, just use the seals that were there. The old style rails work for orange or yellow (NA) injectors, yellow injectors came on old and new style rails, etc.

I'm not following on the FPR. Probably the rail with the whites has a damper on it, not an FPR.

You're right I was confusing the damper with a regulator. I guess the 70 series moved the FPR way down by the power steering rack. On the 850s its on the underside of the fuel rail.

Yeah, you can just put that FPR here the damper is now. Same diameter pipes.

FYI I finally got around to the install on these and I did end up using the stock 850 fuel rail. Putting the FPR in place of the damper didn't work as there were no sockets for the FPR mounting screws on the s70 rail. As for the spacers, I did use them because the white injectors I found were slightly shorter than the orange and I figured it would help put them at a more proper depth. Put about 50 miles on it since the install. So far, so good.
