Dashboard Oil Lamp not Illuminating

Post by whiteskies »

V70 Mk2 2006 2.4D
I have a weird issue, when turning on my ignition, the oil warning lamp does not come on. I'm sure it used to, but has anyone else got this issue? Volvo near where I live are no good on their advice at all.
might it be I have a faulty oil pressure switch?
any advice is good thanks.

Did you just bought the car? Good chances PO had removed or taped the oil led inside the DIM. Surely for a good reason.
Btw, disconnect the battery any moment the DIM is disconnected.

I've had the car for just over 2 years and have covered 40k miles. I have removed the dashboard in the past as the volvo dealer said it could be a lamp blown on the dash, but these are all surface mounted LED's. I'm just concerned if one day I loose oil pressure that the system won't tell me. The local volver dealer to me is next to useless!

These surface mount leds just don't just burn like that. Most possible and already seen on forum here, is previous owner has placed a small piece of tape over the led. If you remove the dash (also called DIM), the car battery must be disconnected any time the DIM is unplugged.
