Window washer fluid problem

Dear All,

I hope someone can help me with my problem...

My window washer fluid doesn't work as it should. It doesn't even take half a litre to fill up the reservoir and when that has been used it stops working. What about the other 4 litres? Why isn't that coming out as well? I am assuming that if there was a pump problem, no fluid would come out whatsoever, right?

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my 2006 S60 in the summer. I heard washing pump to run but I didn't get any fluid to my windshield. There is a rubber mesh before the pump inlet that is supposed to stop sucking dirt into the pump. In my case the mesh was all filled with some nasty gel like substance that didn't let water go to the pump.

You have to take off the front bumper to get access to the washer pump. You just pull the pump from the reservoir to check it. Have some bucket ready when you pull the pump out because the whole reservoir is going to be empty in about a minute.
