Hi all.
My original 95 cooling liquid cap suddenly cracked in half on holidays last summer.
So I got a replacement one through some garage.
This is not an original volvo cap and I suspect it from leaking.
I drove in a lengthy traffic jam and i saw steam coming from the hood where the reservoir is.
And needed to add liquid later.
Is this a thing for not oem caps?
experience not original coolin liquid cap

i have had an aftermarket cap on my v70 for 2.5 years no issues.
the only aftermarket brand you should avoid would be üro parts. they're notoriously not good at containing liquids.

I keep a green cap in the glove box of all of our cars. Years ago, we had an 850 whose cap would crack at least once a year and got stranded once. Having and extra is cheap insurance! I pull them from cars at the pull-a-part. Sure, they're used but better than not having one when an old one splits open on a trip.

Sorry for not responding for some time. But I was keeping track of what happens.
Everytime I check, there is a little fluid gone. And there is always some fluid in the little ring around the cap. Got 2 5liter jugs in the back with the g12 for safety. Sometimes it will leak nothing. And sometimes it will miss a few chugs.
So I am almost certain it leaks under pressure.
I will keep an eye out for the reservoir. It seems ok though. I checked for cracks. Nothing there.
The pressure rating written on the cap is the same as on the original ones.
I think 150 something. Dont exactly remember, but I know it was the same.
Today I scavenged the local car breaker and found 3 caps. There seem to be grey and green ones.
They are a bit different in design allthough they both fit.
My car originaly had a green one so I got that.
But I found a green one on a 740. And grey and green ones on 850's. All Volvo originals.
I took the newest green one. From '99.
Paid 5 euro for the fine specimen.
Also asked at volvo dealer. 23,80 euro ex 21percent tax.
He needed the vin nr. license pate, and engine code to find a cap they used on all 850s...
Since they removed the dedicated parts guys last year, its a useless place to go without article numbers.
Those suits and ties know completely nothing, but are always willing to put you down for wanting a part instead of a new xc90.
