Anyone who has a Volvo V8 is usually a big fan of its performance, reliability, and feel. However, it's no secret that the timing cover on the Volvo V8 can leak over time and after recently having to perform this job on my own personal vehicle, a 2006 XC90 V8, I quickly realized that there are a ton of parts to replace to do the job correctly and that there really wasn't a good kit on the market for us enthusiasts. I created this kit which includes all of the gaskets, seals, and hoses needed in order to reseal or replace the timing cover on the Volvo V8's. Another reason as to why this cover needs to be replaced can be due to the serpentine belt idler or tensioner failure which, when fails, put a tremendous amount of pressure on the boss incorporated on the timing cover itself. When this happens, the boss will break off and require the cover replacement.

I personally just bought my XC90 V8 with about 151k on it and it was in need of some TLC. I also wanted the set the car up for years of reliability.
With that said, I replaced a few other components such as:

Although not faulty it was saturated in oil. They're also known to over heat on these cars so I thought it was a good idea to replace it.

This was leaking....and leaking pretty bad. What happens to these cars is that the fluid travels down and across the balance shaft cover and down along the block and down onto the transmission. It resembles a rear main seal leak but its actually coming from the power steering pump.

While not leaking, I noticed a small amount of coolant crust built up on the freeze plug of the pump. I thought it was a good idea to replace while I was in there.

I went with the Pentosin kit. The Fuel filter on my car was original and I can't begin to describe the gunk that came out. In fact, as soon as I replaced it, it triggered a fuel pressure sensor code and I had to replace the sensor

The Air filter was in bad shape and the plugs were in desperate need of a replacement. While I had the valve covers off I figured it would be foolish not to replace. Also, just in case any gasket material fell into the pan while the timing cover was off, I performed an engine oil change as it needed one anyhow.
The job was not difficult however very tedious with lots of cleaning involved. I'm convinced this engine is good to go for at least another 100k miles (I hope).
I know there's an S80 V8 on here with over 300k, how many miles are on yours?
