Hello, I disconnected my stock volvo radio(SC-816) on my 98 S70 to work on the hazard lights switch directly beneath it. I knew I could just call the dealer and get the code to turn it back on. Well the dealer gave me the code for the original radio and that didn't work so we went off the serial numbers of the radio. It gave a different code. That one still didn't work. The dealer says the radio must be busted but I find that hard to believe since I only unhooked it for a few minutes then hooked it back up! Do I need to do anything special when I enter the radio code? Please anybody HELP!
Thanks!
Mark

Wow...what a bummer. Someone posted some time ago about something similar over on the www.brickboard.com forum. You might go over there and do a serch. Seems that many of the codes are the same and someone got lucky by trying a series of codes. You do know that after 3 wrong attempts it will not say CODE anymore but OFF and you have to leave it on with car running for 2+ hours to get CODE again. I wish you the best with this issue.

Maybe the dealer wrote the numbers down wrong when you phoned and gave you the wrong code number . I would call again and ask them to repeat the numbers back after you give them and then see if they give you the same code as the first time you called.

I would be trying a different dealer as some are less helpful than others, especially when they are not being paid.

Thanks for your helpful info. However, I did do both of the things you suggested. I actually called 4 different dealerships and got the two codes then took my car into a dealer and we both tried to get the codes to work. So anyway the radio is officially dead. RIP. I now have a double din Kenwood system in S70 and it works great! Finally no more worrying about codes!! And it sounds better too! Thanks again for your help!
