Transmission Solenoid B - Error Code 755

Post by vvonc »

After an OBD reading on my '96 850 Turbo, I received the error code P 755 which stated the transmission solenoid B was malfunctioning. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is the solenoid inside or outside the tranny? Does it need to be replaced or simply flush the tranny? I'd appreciate any help.

The solenoid is on the inside of the transmission. Flushing may wash some grit out that may be the cause of the malfunction - it also may do nothing.

I had the same issues with my 96 about 3 years ago. I ended up replacing the trans with a new one (it was within $200 of a rebuild if memory serves me).

Good Luck,

Have you called anyone to see what the code is for specifically? I had a trans code early in the year that was for the torque converter solenoid, after having the dreaded flashing arrow come on with no symptoms (I was hoping it was the shift switch). This solenoid was located inside the trans, so it had to be removed to replace the solenoid. My mechanic couldn't do it, sent me to dealership. Ended up having another indy Volvo shop do it and haven't had any problems since. Cost was $750 total.

BTW, called the dealership and said they would charge the same, so apparently price was standard (mainly labor). It may not be a bad idea in this situation to try the dealership.
