First off hello,
I'm back and with a 2000 V70R with a very, very unique electrical issue.
When the car is first started for around 30 seconds to 3 minutes almost all interior electronics dont work.
This list includes, HVAC, wipers, interior lights, heated seats, seat controls, and all backlighting.
Here is where it gets fun though, when all of these functions are non working my SRS is also on.
Once the SRS light goes out everything functions as normal.
I don't believe its the ignition cylinder due to the fact that I've jiggled the frick out of it and it doesn't change the symptoms at all.
Needless to say I'm quite lost and in need of some assistance. I've used the search feature till my eyes are screaming at me from screen glare, but alas my problem persists.
I guess the question is how are all these systems related, and where can I find a electrical diagram.
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.

Ignition switch, electrical part. Jiggling the key isn't really altering the electrical part, which is on the other side of the steering column. You can open it up and try cleaning the contacts , lee wrote a great failure analysis thread on it some years bacj

Don't rule out the ignition switch. Hands down, it's the most common
thing on these cars to cause the kind of problem that you've described.
Next in line ( and MUCH less often } are your accessory overload relays.
There are the two that handle most of the extra things that don't run through
the ignition directly. They're identical and conveniently placed right next to
each other in the main fuse box by the windshield - Relays 105 & 106:
You'll have to take the cover off of the box to reach them, then
swap'em out and see what happens. If it's one of these relays,
a bunch of other systems will inherit your "Delay Feature".

Gawd you folks are great. I will update this thread on Wednesday after I have a chance to swap relays. Genuinely though the Volvo community is half the reason I'm a Volvo nut.
You folks ROCK,

Roland, I think your bastard 2000 is more like my 99 on electric also and is slightly different with respect to relays than the -1998. I recently cleaned out my relay terminals during an Albany Volvofest and had pix under a thread with that in the name

Just have a look at the pix in the thread below and see if it matches yours vs the other thread - in case you get lost..

I'm pretty sure that the relays are the same for accessory systems in the 98-00's.
The big ones in the main box and 105/106 in the distribution box should all support
the same systems between those years. ( Keep in mind that in the wiring diagrams,
they're called out as 2/30 and 2/31 ). AFAIK, nearly all of the body electrical is the
same with the x70 P80 'tween cars. ( Heck, it costs Volvo MONEY to change that stuff! )
There are also a lot of similarities to 850s when you look at 105 and 106.
One of these days, I may get around to mapping which systems are handled
by which relays, but that's more of a "dead of winter" project... On my list!
