1999 V70 XC AWD - Compressor/Turbo line to TCV?

Is there a trick to replacing this hose? I'm thinking of getting the car on jack-stands or ramps. It is the last vac. hose I can find in the engine bay. The others I've replaced look like they've went through a small war.

No 'trick', just extra work. The air intake pipe to the turbo must be removed so you can get a pair of pliers on the spring clip holding the vacuum line to the turbo. You need to uncouple the line from the TCV first, feel for the location of the spring clip at the turbo end and memorize where the 3 'ears' of the spring clip are orientated. If the 'ears' are at a bad position, the vacuum line can usually be turned to get a better position.

You did not mention the vacuum line from the intake manifold to the turbo...

It is just a real pain to access it. It is handy to have a small mirror on a stick to see what you are doing, but I found a pair of long nose pliers and feel was needed to find the 2 squeeze tabs on the spring holing the pipe in place. Then lots of patience to work it off. Re-fitting is even more of a fiddle, but just take your time. On a FWD you may be able to access it from below, but the steering rack and column get in the way.

Precisely what I was afraid of... :(

That line receives ~10-15 lbs pressure max if things go beyond spec, correct?

I think you over-estimate the amount of time and effort I'm willing to expend :mrgreen:

No tricks beyond removing the intake pipe and whoever else gets in the way, it's just hard to reach back in there. And I've only changed it on FWD cars. :)

If you are lucky you can do it in 15 minutes or less, but if you have not done this before it can be a challenge. Standard Volvo TCV is only rated to 12psi.

Yeah, the top part of the pipe where it meets the MAF appears to be pretty stiff, may just unscrew the MAF from the air box and then proceed.

I found it easier to remove the MAF by tying the induction hose to the engine torque mount then wiggling the MAF off. It's hard to grab that big fat hose
