ABS not working?!? but there's no ABS warning light?

Post by MoSsElMaN »

Here's the problem.....I decided to test my abs system on my '96 855 T5 Wagon (OBDII) last nite in the rain.....AND......

I hit the brakes at 60kph only to have my wheels lockup and skid to a standstill. (i tried to steer the car but it only went straight)

1) The ABS warning light switches off once the engine's started
(this is normal yes?)
2) The ABS Fuse is checks out alright.

so what's the conclusion here?

I have the same problem on my 440 Turbo. Just went at 30mph then slammed the brakes on only to have wheels lock and skid

try to engage the abs on dry pavement. Believe it or not, abs will not work in all situations. The abs "should" work on wet pavement, but remember that this abs tech is at least 7 years old. ie many improvements have been made..
