Hi All,
Last night, we were visiting some friends. When we were leaving home in a hurry, we took our key with no fob. When we arrived, I locked the doors with the interior power lock. When we were ready to leave, I tried to unlock the door with the key, and it was as if I had the wrong key; it would not move at all. I wondered if it could be frozen, so I heated the key with a gas flame until it was pretty hot, but all to no avail. Our friends drove us home, and we returned with our fob and it worked fine. So, what is going on here? The key worked perfectly until that instant. This could be a real problem.
Thanks,
H

The heated key may not of had enough heat. Spray some Windshield de-icer in the lock and let it soak. Use the extension tube from a can of WD40, brake cleaner ect. to get it in the lock.

Perhaps you didn't use the key for long time? The lock may seize from not being manually opened for long time. What I do when this happens, insert the key then keep trying to turn it left-right-left-right and so on with a bit of pressure (do not force). It usualy frees up in a couple of minutes

Welcome to winter life!! Anytime you get a rain followed by a freeze this is a possibility, some lock deicer spray is the best solution, applied immediately before needed.

If all the doors get stuck, open the trunk and crawl through. Don't forget to YouTube that. It's been officially named " Fat Guy Tetris" in my house
