Vida shows sporadic communication with TCM. Maybe loose connection so will remove and clean contacts. Just in case have another TCM if I install the spare does it require reprograming? Can I reprogram it with VIDA or is it stealer ship only?

After 1998 (1999-on) requires full subscription VIDA or doublebug/yagger intervention for ECM - I think TCM is the same but don't know for sure.

People have reported that dealerships won't marry a replaced ETM unless they sold it to you.
Something makes me think they'll extend the same discourtesy to you regarding your TCM.

Also, since a bad ABS controller can louse up so much CANBUS communication, can you be dead sure your TCM is the source of the problem? just askin'

These electronic modules are some sort of bug light for troubleshooters and yet are probably the most reliable part of the car. This is true across many makes. So much time is wasted chasing modules as root cause, when its wiring, vacuum hoses. or just deferred maintentance

I just removed cleaned and replaced ECM and TCM so it was all married to the car not new or replaced so it SHOULD have recognized the original parts BUT------

VIDA warns that the main relay has to be powered down before the control modules are removed - this can take a few minutes after shutdown. Interestingly, they do not say to remove battery negative cable.
