Hi,
I am preparing to replace front axles on a 2007 S40 AWD T5 6 speed manual transmission. I am not finding aftermarket replacements at eEuroparts or IPD, the original Volvo parts are 36000547 & 36000556 ($$$ - even for rebuilt). Some places have one side but not the other, or don't have both sides by the same manufacturer. I found SurTrack/TrackMotiv V08072 and V0849 both available at one place, anyone have experience with parts from this supplier?

Thanks Rick, I have also found brands I don't recognize. My preference was for GKN because they are a trusted after market part, but they don't seem to make one for my model; I have not found a catalog on the GKN website. German parts also carries SurTrack, have you used SurTrack or GSP?
I have seen comments that some of the aftermarket joints still chatter after replacement. With the mileage on the car, I did not want to invest in genuine Volvo parts, but was hoping to find a trusted after market replacement that folks have been satisfied with.

What do you mean by chatter?
Even a Genuine Volvo axle can produce a clicking noise*. It the slack between the axle spines and the hub that makes the clicking noise. The solution is to bind the axle spine to the hub with semi-permanent loctite. That will quite the clicking noise, the draw back is: to get the hub off you got to heat it up. I had a conservation with a Volvo service manager, they don't use the semi-permanent loctite unless a customer complains about the clicking noise.
*Clicking noise when the wheels are straight. Clicking noise when the wheels are turned is a worn CV joint.
If you want inexpensive, Advanced Auto/CarQuest has CarQuest brand axles for $120 total. Exact Fit for your 2007 Volvo S40 T5. Advanced Auto/CarQuest stock numbers NCV73549 & NCV73550.
Have not used them. So far I have done well with Cardone but Cardone does not appear to have the axles you need.German parts also carries SurTrack, have you used SurTrack or GSP?
