Hey folks,

I wanna get a sanity check before I make a purchase here. I have had consistent troubles with my instrument cluster in my 1994 960 Wagon. I am currently using a cluster pulled from a 1991 something-or-whatever that doesnt have a working speedo or clock (though i knew this to be the case for this model year)

I have finally found a working one on eBay right now, but its for a Turbo model 1994 940. I have a lot of weariness when it comes to this instrument cluster fiasco because as outlined below, there are a ton of compatibility issues across models...and I can only use clusters made between 93 & 94 for the 940/960 and 740/760

So if my understanding of the cluster is correct....the Turbo gauge's existence should not effect anything regarding any other instruments and will not mess with the ECU/TCU unit. Its just not going to read any pressure because its not sending anything...will it throw an error without being hooked up to anything or just will it sit there?

If I end up getting this I might have to put a turbo on my b6304, which I hear is not recommended :?

The boost gauge would work on the vacuum side if connected to intake manifold vacuum. You could look up the instrument cluster individual part numbers on one of the volvo parts sites. See what gauges and printed circuit part numbers are the same.

The 960 uses Motronic and those others useLH Jetronic and EZK ignition. The Motronic on 92-95 960 communicates tachometer info as a serial signal and the 4 cylinder car lines did a simple digital signal. 96 and later 960/s90/v90 communicate temp gauge and tachometer as serial signal. The point is the clusters may look alike but are not interchangeable
