Adding heated seats P2 V70? Topic is solved

Hmmmmm I am looking at a nice 07 V70, 2.5T and it kept looking better and better until I got to the heated front seats. This is a Florida and nope - seat heater buttons are missing in the online pics.

Anyone added/retrofitted heated seats to a P2, or know what it takes?

It looks (link to SS) like it takes adding the switches and two properly equipped seats from the junkyard, plus a software re-write. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth, need to keep looking ...

I read about the software and the CEM. Too bad because the rest was pretty doable, swapping the CCM for the buttons, and swapping the bottom seat cushion for the heated element - assuming all seats are pre-wired which I'm not aware if they are. So at least for the seats, the easier route is to swap the entire bottom cushion along with the skin - 04-up being different than 01-03 (P2 S80 may all have 01-03 S60 seats but not sure). On my 03 S60 I swapped some 02 S80 bottom cushion. My car had already heated seats, but the cushion from the S80 came with more powerful heating elements - 5W vs 3W in my car, and the difference is day and night, mine used to take long time to warm up, the S80 cushion is fast and toasty (and the cushion very comfy). If you need to also have rear heated seats on a P2 S60 V70 which never come prewired like the P3 S80 in the link, there is a simple way to do it, by removing an upper heated element from the junkyard, place it under the skin on the rear seat, and plug it into the connector for the upper element from the corresponding front seat (will need a wire extension). Front and rear seats will then have only lower cushion heating and activate both from the CCM button. The upper seat portion is not really needed to be heated, at least I didn't really feel it because we use thick coats so the heat doesn't really get through these.

If you read to the bottom of the second page of the SS link somebody chimes in regarding a P2 V70 saying they had success.

I personally have only gone the other way & swapped non-heated seats into a P2 that had provisions for heated seats. Currently my wife is insistent that I undo that.

Did you reach out to Yagger? If there is a way to do it I’m pretty certain he knows how to make it happen.

Ive messed around with seats, i converted a manual seat to a power seat which involved opening the skins and i looked inside. Its a big job but achievable, the wiring would have to be independent but unlike the power seat switches i dont think you can retro fit the heated seat switch as i think its momantary switch

You could also go the aftermarket route. You can pick up a kit for under $50, full wiring, relay with switch and the elements. My car unfortunately didn't come pre-wired (nor with a sunroof!!), And the without the automated CCM, so I ended up buying some water carbon elements and drillled the switch. They heated up pretty fast. Granted, the element looks smaller than the OEM one, but I still felt it toasty after about two minutes. It also has a resistor to prevent overheating.

I drew power from the 12V plugs. If you go that route, I recommend doing the driver's side on the rear 12V plug since it gets used less. I tested with phone chargers and it still works fine.

I was initially skeptical of the non factory look but in the end it all looked fine. Note, the switch is on the seat

That looks really neat, there should be 12v under your manual seat, its pre wired for electric seats all you need to do is put a fuse in and label it 'seat heating'

5 watts seems really low for a heater element? Is this number correct?

On my passenger manual to electric conversion i have a few spare buttons 'Mem 1,2,3' i was thinking if things like extra heating or massage. Speaking of heating i rented a hyundai i20 that had steering wheel heating, omg that is so nice.

There actually is on the driver's side (but not the passenger side in mine) and it's live, however I discovered that the feed stays live even if you don't have the key in the ignition. You could wire the elements to that feed and the switch to the 12V plug. That would definitely work.

I've seen some models that only have wiring on the driver's side (mine) and some on both. No idea why they did that.
