>>> Turbo Poll <<<

it's a poll regarding if you've had trouble with your turbocharger. I think the results are skewed (way) toward Yes because people with turbo issues are searching and finding that thread, and people without issues are of course not. It's not random, in other words.

We have a 1989 780 Bertone turbo in the family. 150K miles. The turbo has never had a problem. I have been very surprised. It does wheeze a bit. The interior has fell to pieces.

No turbo probl on 99 V70 T5 - other than dealer said I had a seal leak,
which was fixed under warranty. I keep Mobil 1 Synthetic running about
every 5K. Has 77K on odometer.

97 850 T5 - Recently acquired at 104K - Now 105K. Doesn't appear
to be a problem. However, I periodically blow a lot of blue smoke
out the back - - profess. mech says it is "loading" up through the EGR
system. So says to run it hard at 4500 -5000 rpm for about 15 minutes,
but it keeps coming back periodically with the blue cloud?

Like the Power and the 97 has a throaty sound - - when I keep it in
lower gears and ramp it up with rpm's. Swede in Colorado :D

I haven't had any problems with my turbo in the 96,000 miles.

not so lucky. On a '98 S70 mine failed at 72,000 even with regular oil changes (though I didn't use synthetic). That along with a heater core at the same time.

No problems with the turbo.

Vehicle has just turned over 215,000 kms.

Regulary serviced by Volvo garage who use only top quality mineral oil.
There are only two types of car owners - those who own Volvos and those who wish they did.

No problems with my turbo yet at 93k.

I do have to replace the return line o-ring and seal though.
