Cv axle

Hey, long time lurker first time poster.

I just "fixed" my drivers side cv axle and I shoved it in as far as it will go as per the pic. The car pulls a little to the drivers side now and I'm not sure if the axle is al the way in. I've driven a few hundred km's since I installed it but am starting to get a bit worried.

drivers side is your left side "short" axle?.. there is a circlip on the end that needs to be "clipped" in. If you can easily pull the shaft out means its not clipped in, give it a tap with a rubber mallet or heavy hammer with a piece of timber to protect the shaft.

Drivers side is the short one. These was a little clip on the axle that seemed a tad loose but I thought nothing of it and shoved it in. Seemed tight as I wasn't able to push it in or pull it out by pulling on it.

Just seems not fully in.

Is the axle a replacement ? Some had the wrong clip size. Try pulling on the inner CV joint cup just before that shaft, see if it comes out, otherwise it should be secured properly. For the pull, how is the rear bushing on the control arm, when you jack the wheel ?

Yes the axle is a replacement and the clip looked a tad big and loose as I installed it. I have pulled and pushed on the axle and its very in there. I'll try it again tomorrow when the weather warms up a bit.

With regards to the rear bushings, I have not looked at those but this alignment pull was not there before I did this job and was present after.

It's the small bushing at the rear of the control arm that goes bad (tears). For the axle, if it doesn't come out it's secure, but good to know it may not come out again if needed, if the clip was slightly larger (common problem)

So I might not ever be able to get this axle out again? Oh boy. The alignment issue is annoying.

It will come out, slide hammer or.... drive it out from the other side, it can be done.
We got ours out with the slide hammer, just takes a bit of imagination getting it hooked up.
