Main Fuse Box - Mass of wires? Topic is solved

Good evening,

I found this mass of wires in the main fuse box, they appear to have been cut and spliced at some point with an adhesive heatshrink. Can anyone think of any auxiliary electrics that would have been used here, or have any suggestions as to what was removed?

Some are looped, some have three wires spliced into two, so I believe that there was something retrospectively wired into here and then removed.

The most common wiring mods are

Stereo amplifier wiring
Remote start
Alarm wiring

Many thanks. I haven't seen any evidence of alarms - the standard Guard II is still present and working. It's a similar story for stereos, running all original speakers and there are no mounting holes for any amps or additional wiring.

I believe that whatever it was was a Volvo item as the heat shrink matches perfectly with that provided in the ABS repair harness, and the gauge and colour of the spliced in wires are a perfect match. I don't know of that helps narrow things down.

The connectors for front wheel speed sensors had resistance on some 850s and the fix was to solder and heat shrink. That is the repair shown. If you go find the wires on right and left headed to the wheel area you'll find the brown and black sets there.

That actually makes perfect sense and explains the match on wires and heatshrink with the ABS harness repair kit. Thank you!
