Hi,
I've owned this 93 940 wagon for years in this condition, have done some research on the mechanism and wiring and understand that these seats were a failed NASA project that Volvo somehow got hold of. However...
With the seat stuck ALL the way to the rear, I can't get at the floor bolts to get the seat out and see what the problem is.
1. Anyone have a genius trick for doing that?
2. All I really need is to move the seat forward a couple of inches so that I can fold down the rear seat (it's a wagon) without having the seatback (which works fine) practically leaning forward, so...
3. Any ideas how to manually move the seat forward 2 inches even if it never moves again?
My suspicion is that the mechanism or the seat rails are just mechanically jammed, perhaps by an object but more likely from one side being forward of the other, if you follow me. I'm going to go out and see if there is some other way to skin this cat, but if there are any "been there, done that" solutions available, I would be very grateful to hear them.

Hello! There is only 1 solution I can think of...and it's a pitb. I don't know how to make it move forward with it frozen. It's been frozen, racked all the way back. I attempted rewiring and inspecting the gear area to find cause of jam. The way I decided to go about it-remove the seat and get up in there with a flat screw driver or a pick of some sort. If 940 seats are any way similar to my 960, you will need to remove the seat in 2 pieces. First there are 4 bolts (mine are 12mm), 2 on left side and 2 on right side, to separate the seat itself from the frame that bolts into the car. Then if you have that 90s carpet covering the last 2 inches of the seat low to the floor, it will be held on by 2 plastic clips. The seat belt sensor cable might be braided through the bottom of the cushion and secured by cable ties. Of course the bottom of the seat frame is held down by 4 bolts (14mm), but the 2 back ones will probably require a wrench because the rear of frame is over those. Thats how I got mine out. My next step with be to use a bright flashlight and a pick to possibly clear up the tracks if there's anything jamming them. I suspect it's a shot motor though. I thought for my driver seat that pushing with excessive force while clicking the forward button would work. I suppose human strength has nothing to offer because the right track still wouldn't budge.Eddystone wrote: ↑27 Oct 2020, 09:26 Hi,
