So the turbo in my 850 T5 (TD04HL-15G) is on it's way out and I'm looking to buy a replacement, something bigger.
However I can't come to a conclusion of what to get.
First off I thought it was a good idea to get a 16T, because my ECU already has a tune and the 16T isn't that different from a 15G.
Then I browsed around, found that the 19T isn't that more expensive, almost went through with the purchase and did a little check up on how it would bolt on and found people saying that I would blow up my motor by just bolting it on.
What turbo should I ideally get, to just bolt on as a replacement to my old, original and knackered 15G?

Get the 19, but get a tune. It's got an aggressive torque wave that bends rods down low in RPMs, where rods get bent in any case.

Getting a tune in Estonia would mean replacing the ECU for a custom ECU (MaxxECU, etc), and that's wayyyy out of my budget right now. Nobody tunes the stock ECUs here. Even the tune on my current ECU was done in Finland, before I bought the car. And then it boosted up to 1.5 bar before something went wrong.
And I am planning to keep the car as a daily driver from spring to autumn (and smoke some VAG 4.2 V8s meanwhile).

Thanks for the help.
I just want to keep the decent mileage, while having the car reasonably fast, while not blowing the thing up because I tend to redline it every day. Can't keep my foot away from the gas pedal
It's 16T then, haven't really seen any 15G's for sale at all either, I'm getting a decent condition 16T from abroad anyway for cheaper what they offered to refurbish my 15G for (lots of cross play and I'm driving around like a damn steam train).
And there's always time in the future to upgrade when I've got the budget for it.

Get a manual boost controller. It was by far the most fun÷money I ever had with my 850. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/recom ... 850-turbo/
Please install a boost gauge before an MBC.

Also before an MBC, do a Stage 0.

Stage 0 is basically complete, besides that I might have blown the FMIC, or that's what people tell me after it's not making 1.5 bar of boost after replacing all the turbo hoses and vacuums and that I'm going to replace the injector wiring loom the same time I'm going to replace the turbo (because my current turbo is old and has 328k km on it and generally isn't in good condition).
Got a boost gauge, otherwise I would have no idea what the turbo's doing (and how it's making 0.9 bar right now).
I'd have no idea where to go looking for a MBC though, I'll get on that.
There's actually a few question marks with the car, as I have no idea what has actually been tuned, since I bought it off a pretty shady dude. It definitely doesn't have the original intake manifold or the stock injectors (got blues), and the ad I bought it off of listed it as a 2.3 litre, while in the documents it's a 2.0.

I blew my FMIC with too much boost also
It's an easy swap out replacement if you haven't done it yet.
