Stepped Flywheel

Post by ysathya »

I have a 1996 model Volvo 940. This has Stepped flywheel using 60/1 pattern - 58 holes - 2 holes missing, for locating TDC. This has a 9.5" cutch and pressure plate combination. I have dismantled the flywheel to replace crankshaft rear oil seal.

I made matching marks on the crankshaft and flywheel before dismantling but while cleaning the flywheel the match mark we put got erased. There are 8 possibilities for fitting the flywheel on the crankshaft but only one particular position will be the correct one to time the ignition properly. How can I locate this positioning in the absence of matching marks?
