What is this part that I broke?

Post by famfeld »

In front of the airbox on my 04 Volvo xc70. It is like a valve for some kind of air recirc pump. Not exactly sure, but it broke apart as you can see in the pic

- Volvo PN 31400692, about $60-$70.
Use only Volvo part. Avoid the aftermarket junks.

How many miles on your 2004 XC70?

Most consider:
1. Replacing this part for sure.
2. Lubricate the vacuum pump itself. I wrote it up somewhere in forum.
I will look for it later...

Brake vacuum sensor. You can glue it back together with a zip tie around it, too. The new part is improved and doesn’t break ( brake?) like the OE.

Make sure your vacuum pump isn’t on full time after that repair. That will burn it out and it isn’t cheap.
