97 Volvo 960 Electrical issue

Post by Rjnel_1 »

I have a 97 Volvo 960 with 93k miles the car had a really bad sunroof leak it starts and runs ok for a few minutes but the idle is a little up and down 100 or 200 then idles down and dies when it does the radiator cooling fan runs when the car is cold. Just looking to see if this is something common or more severe I believe the main CPU is located just below the the drivers a pillar so I'm fairly sure water has been running over it the leak was so bad I could hear water moving when I drove the car on a trailer is the Volvo CPU sealed? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

One thing that can cause the cooling fan to run after turning off the car is the engine coolant temp sensor located in the thermostat housing.
It can also cause a dead battery as a bad sensor cause the fan to run on its own intermittently while the car is just sitting.
Had this issue earlier this year after having a dead battery a few times.
Replaced sensor and it's been fine. Not the 1st 960 I had to replace the engine coolant temp sensor.
