I've read many procedures for bleeding air from power steering fluid lines. They vary from just top up fluid as you drive to something like: jack stand both front wheels off the ground, slowly turn steering wheel stop-to-stop 10-20 times pausing for 10 seconds when you reach each stop, top up fluid in reservoir and repeat the entire procedure until the level in the reservoir is stable.
My question is whether the power steering fluid pump should be running during the stop-to-stop method. I think I've read both. Does it matter as long as you use the corresponding cold/hot level as reference?
Thanks in advance for your expert opinion.
should pump run during power steering fluid bleed?

If you run the engine during flush you’ll just be introducing air into the system. Engine off, front wheels up in the air, turn wheel lock to lock, checking level and adding fluid as you go (CHF11S or 202). They are interchangeable. Mine went from maple syrup color to bright green after about 1.5 qts. Good luck

Life is short , do it running. The ps system can take a week of driving to get all the air out, just keep a listen for the pump and top off as needed
I’ve run ps pumps for weeks without fluid In the reservoir , I just a bit in the pump to keep it lubed.
