I am a recent owner of a 98 v70 base wagon with grubby, non-power front seats.
I have searched the board on this topic and found a LOT of information but not quite what I am looking for.
I have acquired a better front passenger seat from the junkyard which has heat and power seat operation from a 98 xc70. If I can install the passenger seat, I’ll go back for the drivers seat. I am hoping to install the new seat, rather than just the skins, bc then i will get a powered seat, possible heat and it seems like it would take less time.
I am hoping to get the seat installed and functional (with power) and worry about the heated seats later (I did grab the silver fuse relays from the junkyard)
I have pulled the old seat out and found a wire harness below the old passenger seat but no connectors. The wire harness has 6 wires: Black (thick), Green, Green/ Brown, Black (medium thickness), Yellow/ White, and Gray/ Black.
The seat from the junkyard has 2 electrical connectors (1 for heated seats, 1 for power seats) . The one that appears to be the seat heater has the following wires: Green/Brown, Black/ Gray, and Black. The power seat connector has: Black, White, and Yellow/ Green. I did take the silver fuses from the xc70 at the junkyard.
Can I tap into the wiring on the floor to hook up the power in the seat? Which wires do I connect? Do I need to run a separate ground wire or just tap into black?

I found this "how to" description on another site, haven't tried it yet but plan to...

I just did the opposite, removing a heated powered seat and installing a non-heated non-powered seat. This was in a 2000 V70. Both had the same electrical connectors. I was pretty surprised by this. Though, a 2000 could be quite different from a 1998.

The only thing to watch with seat swaps is in 1999, there is a small green connector that fires the SIPS SIDE AIR BAG
-1998. SIPS is impact triggered by a sensor down on the seat side
1999- SIPS fired electronically
C70s didn’t get the electronic SIPS IN 1999….when?
If you put a -1998 seat into a 1999m it will SRS code
A 1999- seat into a -1998 won’t have a functioning side air bag
