water was definitely getting in number 4 by how clean the valves and piston are. . You will have to make sure the metal loss under the gasket is taken care of. maby compression is bad in 4 due to prolong=ed operation with water. looks like you ran it a long time this way. might be needing an engine ...

good advice to just drive it home. You are more apt to make a mistake under pressure on the side of the road. You could take the one 12mm bolt that holds the cover off and look at the belt for a More relaxing trip. takes 3 minutes. as previously posted, if you have a water pump leak: that can seize ...

coincidence. though a light viscosity or synthetic will turn 1 drip into 3.

You didnt say why you need this, but almost all seal leaks involve pressure in the crankcase or cheap seals put in for no real reason.

cruise control vac pump. Interestingly these go back at least to the 940. didn't know they were still being used on the 98 cars.

it would not prevent leak from a major misalignment, and if ever replaced again (doubtful since each pump is good for two belt changes) its hard to clean up the rtv in the close space.

what terrible luck. now I'm sorry I put my old cracked belt back on thinking who cares if it breaks. people seem to agree that three teeth will not cause interference, but the car would still runs so you must have gone beyond that. still it would be worth while to retime it and do a compression test...
