Those are calendar years. They do not correspond to model years 1:1. The P3 was launched the summer 2007 as MY2008. And the P80 was still the 855 for MY96.
As another example my MY2004 was registered April 2003.

Remember the S80 chassis has a different year span for each generation than the V70 m so you can’t just compare model years.

Didn't read all, but maybe the fuel pump is about to fail ? Also thinking about the ETM on these early XC70 As for the evap code, maybe check this valve - I believe on 2001 it's located on the radiator fan www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H2lIuQ8e34

Do you know anything about the donor car mileage? The MTBF on the MM is about 150k+, so that will give you an indicator Once you start getting codes, you have about 10,000 miles before hard limp mode, in my limited experience You beat 5:1 odds getting that donor to bolt in and work without software ...
