Re: P442 (Evap Leak)
The evap system is a large array of hoses and components, any of which could be a failure point. Under your hood there is a diagram of the evap system. You can start by visually inspecting the hoses. A common one is the hose tree with check valves near the purge valve on the intake manifold. The bes...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
I don’t know why abscate keeps telling us to replace pinch bolts. I think it’s fake news, hogwash…..

Re: 2004 S60 R. Electronic Module
First off, ECM (Engine Control Module) and CEM (Central Electronic Module) are two very different modules on this car. I haven't heard of vtech, the main reputable shop in north america is Xemodex and they are usually pretty honest (if CEM tests fine on their bench usually they just ship it back to ...

Re: 2002 V70 (Engine Mount(s) with fluid)?
The two on the right have hydraulic fluid in them. They are referred to as the front and rear lower engine mounts.

Re: Is there an affordable lower ball joint separator tool for a 2007 XC70?
I've read reports that using anti seize on the balljoint splines can cause hydrolock and prevent it from seating flush with the knuckle. Antiseizer should be fine on the splined end of the axle for the wheel bearing though. Use sparingly.

Re: Are XC70s less common than other Volvo models?
Parts are scarce for both of my cars in Canada. Now that the border is open I buy 100% of my parts (except emergency items) from the USA. Sales figures were and continue to be incredibly low in Canada for Volvo passenger vehicles. Yes I would agree the S60 is more well-documented online. But with so...

Re: '02 V70 (Power Steering Return Line Ftg End)
The reservoir itself leaking is common too. You might want to upgrade to the 2005+ version which has an improved design. There is enough slack, but if the hose is Ok it might just be the hose clamp needs replacing or tightening.

Re: 06 Xc70 - MOOG front anti-swaybar end links question
I have all moog parts on the front end of both of my cars. No I don’t think greasable is necessarily better or worse than sealed.
I have had good luck with them aside from ball joints. I grease the zerk fittings whenever I remember to.

Re: Reconnecting a battery...
OK, thanks. I see the subject of replacing the little thermistor in the climated module gets a lot of ink online, some have "suggested" I guess, that it got damaged by connecting the battery without having the key in POs II. I do hope it's just a myth as I've disconnected/reconnected the ...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Replaced both strut assemblies on my XC today with FCS quick struts for $250 CAD all-in. Manufactured in Detroit using Chinese components. Lifetime warranty, and honestly one of the easier jobs I’ve ever done on this vehicle. So low risk for me. Rattle is now gone. Nothing was salvageable on the old...
