Re: New Volvo 850 Purchase!

A rust filled or frozen cable may have broken internally. When you pull the parking brake handle, there is a balancing bar for the 2 cables which will allow more movement to the parking brake cable trying to make up the broken/frozen cable slack. Choke the front wheels and jack one side at the back ...

Re: I’ve almost given up, but then I saw this one..

Omg, I totally used to have a 91’ 740. It’s was blue. No headliner. Radio didn’t work. Loved that car. Crashed it. I swear I’m not a terrible driver, it’s other people! Ha. That one is a little out of my price range for a cash car. I had a finite amount to spend. I’m going to pick up the s70 this ev...

Re: 850 sump splash guard

If you can get Amazon to ship the URO one to you undamaged it is a decent replacement.

Re: 850 sump splash guard

There is a small flimsy bracket, at the back upper edge of the air-guide that often gets broken in an impact. It can hold in place without it but not ideal. That flap goes into a small slot in the bottom of the radiator in the middle. I pop-rivet a small aluminum bracket to replace it. Downside is t...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Spent 2 hours cleaning, for 10 minutes worth of painting. All for something that really won't be seen.
Not sure that this is a curable condition.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Drove the 850 to get coffee this morning at the Circle K. Was disappointed to see bird poop on it already, as I just got it washed yesterday. While getting my coffee, two LOUD women were verbally fighting in the store. It started outside. An older guy looks at me and says something to the effect, &...

Re: Name that rusty part

The clues of "round, aluminum" make me think it could it have been an aluminum drain plug gasket installed on the engine oil or the transmission fluid sumps. You're right, it's the engine oil drain plug gasket. 50 more MVS points to jreed. You're quite good at this. The drain plug was ins...

Re: No compression on 1 - burnt valve?

Lots of work. I would also check the injectors, we don't know if they are the reason for it, but it won't hurt and is sensible imo. Maybe someone offers cleaning, or you can get refurbished ones... You an also try to clean them by yourself, build something to actuate the injector and spry carb/intak...

Re: 1999 S70 - ID needed on connector and sensor?

Outside or ambient temperature sensor , clips to the louvre in the front bumper nose plastic down low. Zip tie it if The clips are broken, looks like you lost one.

Poor little guy.
